Retox Sessions, proudly presents one of Europe’s most veteran underground DJs to shake Bangkok deep to the electronic core.
Robert Babicz’s career in techno music spans over two decades, first starting in Cologne in 1993 under the pseudonym Rob Acid. During the mid-nineties and the golden era of rave culture, he toured the world as one of the most in-demand and influential performers of acid house. He became known for playing only improvised sets and throwing high-energy, experimental parties with transistor radio and porn films on screen.
In 2007, Babicz released his landmark record “A Cheerful Temper” on Systematic Recordings, an expert movement on electronic, techno and minimal house. His newest album, “The Owl and The Butterfly” comes out this month and it’s a collection inspired by his long nature walks through the Königsforest near his hometown, Cologne. Babicz’s style has been described by DJ Mag as a “marriage of organic groove and glistening electronic melodies.” Clearly, while Babicz is a master on the decks and a pioneer of the craft, he’s still got a lot more hell-fire to give.
This is Robert Babicz’s debut performance in Thailand and promises to be an evening of blissed atmospherics and analogue bass, definitely not for the faint of heart, instinct or imagination. Get your musical psyche for an invigorating ride.
“Robert Babicz at Glow Nightclub” takes place on June 14, 2013 at Glow Nightclub, Bangkok’s leading destination for underground house music. Glow Nightclub is located on Sukhumvit Soi 23. Tickets are available at the door for 500 baht and includes a free Corona open bar from 10:00 to 11:00 p.m.
